Comfort Food

Tonight we needed a little midweek pick me up, and Macaroni and Cheese was the answer. I mean nothing snaps you out of a work induced coma quite like a heaping helping of carbs, right? I am still on the search for the quintessential mac and cheese recipe, but this one does the trick in a pinch. I thought you might like it too.
I found this recipe for "Classic Cheese Sauce" on a box of Argo cornstarch. I just whip it up, and add it to about 12 ounces of cooked and drained shell pasta.

It's super easy to make the sauce. Just keep stirring so that it doesn't scorch!

Smooth and delicious!

Al dente all the way :0)

Time to mix things up.

After a little of this along with the latest episode of Lost, the weekend doesn't seem so far away.

that is one terrific mixer!

your mac and cheese sounds wonderful - but I think it would require me to cook. Maybe I can find somebody who will follow directions and make it forme!

happy pink saturday!

This is Macaroni & Cheese the old fashioned way like my mother made it.
1 1/4 cups uncooked macaroni

Approx 12 oz cubed or shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 egg, 1 cup milk, 1/4 tsp salt

Boil salted water & cook macaroni according to package - drain well.
Spray casserole with cooking oil.
Fill dish with cooked macaroni and press cubed cheese into it or layer with shredded cheese.
Beat egg with milk and salt.
Pour egg and milk mixture over cheese and macaroni.
If you want the top layer soft cover the dish. If you want it crispy, leave uncovered.
Bake in a 350 degree oven for 45 minutes.
