We're Off To See The Wizard...

If you were to look up "procrastinator" in the dictionary, you would find a thumbnail sketch of me. That's about to change though. I am officially starting on my daughter's Halloween costume this week. That's right, this year I will not wait until the week of, or the night before to turn on my sewing machine. I am changing my ways. I am planning ahead. The notions are ready. The shoes have been purchased. All systems are go.
While I have proceeded to set up shop on the kitchen table, my husband has likewise been busy with preparations of his own. He has decided to place a "swear jar" in close proximity to where I will be working. Having been around me during past sewing adventures, he feels that this could be a very lucrative proposition. He even started pricing new golf clubs, when he realized that the pattern I would be using required intermediate sewing skills. The costume does have a zipper, so he is probably guaranteed at least a new putter when all is... said and done. We'll see.

I made that exact same costume for my youngest daughter back in 1994! At the time, Target did not sell those nifty shoes, and she had to wear her little red Swedish clogs. Happy sewing, I loved making that costume!

P.S. How creepy was that scene with Betty and that kid named Glen? What an awkward situation. I'm not sure if I was more scared of the boy or how Betty was acting.
I loved that cute dress with the flowers she wore when she visited her dad :)

What you think you're special because you are NOT procrastinating....
Huh? Huh?
I'm just kidding I'm one and a half done, we'll ignore the fact that someone gave me a parrot costume so I'm really only half done.
Seriously though that's AWESOME!! Plus her costume is going to be so awesome!

Darling photos! This must be a right of passage to make your daughter a Dorothy costume. Just as in the earlier post, the sparkly shoes weren't available in 1987, so little red patent mary janes made do. I'm going to dig up that photo now of her dressed up as Dorothy and send it to her!
Cheers,
Mary

hey, you sound like me! My husband cringes when he sees my machine coming out of hibernation, then makes comments like "Not in front of the BAY-by!!"
Good luck!

I love it! Every year I'm trying to figure out what everyone wants to be. And after they changed their minds 500 times this year is different. We have the costumes...we have a couple (or is it a few?) more weeks and this family is READY for the candy! Hope it's the same next year. Love the shoes, target right?

I think you will do fine. I am dressing as Dorothy and taking three Old English Sheepdogs, i.e. Tin Man, Scarecrow and the Cowardly Lion to deliver cookies to the elderly of our church. I have to make my costume. Pray for me.
