Yesterday, while at the craft store I had a Steve Martin moment. If you have ever seen a movie he was in called
The Jerk, you might remember the scene where the simpleton character he played was overjoyed because the new phone book had just arrived. He exclaimed, "The phone books are here! The phone books are here!" I could totally relate when I saw that the store already has the Christmas ribbon for sale. Who cares if it's 103 degrees outside and Christmas is seven months away? Not me, I was in the isle shouting "The ribbon is here! The ribbon is here!"
I love to see the new color combinations that they have out because that gives a hint as to what the decorations and wrapping paper are going to be like, not that we won't know that within the month anyway. LOL! When I was checking out, the clerk was already "bah humbug" about the whole situation. I think she even rolled her eyes at me, at which point I added to her annoyance by cheerfully reminding her that all the ribbon is 50% off...including the Christmas. I get another big eye roll followed by an agitated exhale. This did not bother me in the least though. As a matter of fact, I think I need to go back and get some more... before there's a run on it.

Ooh, ribbon! That's up there with ooh, shiny! This reminds me of something my best friends mother said when we were out. We went out to lunch before I moved to Alaska a few years ago. Everyone else was complaining how slow the service was, and she looked at me with a sparkle in her eye and said, "You see this? You see this ice? This is the key to happiness, I am so happy to have ice in my soda. They didn't have to give this to me, yet it keeps my drink cold while I wait. It's these little things that keep me happy." I loved her attitude, and adopted it myself. Imagine my delight when we went and grabbed lunch after I came back, and the bread basket was brought out, her whole face lit up. I know these are expectations but viewing things through her eyes keeps me happy.
Back to the ribbon, where do I find such ribbon? It looks like it may have shinies embedded in it...
...lol...
thats so funny! I love ribbon as well, its one of my many fetishes.
smiles,
Sandy
